A More Effective Communicator
1. Master The Topic
Make sure you understand topics at a deeper level.
- Learn why things work at a deeper level; for example, if you going to create a web page, then understand how http works on a server, as it could be helpful if you run into issues.
- Show curiosity towards things at a deeper level, it's not enough to simply know that you can host a website on a webserver; why is that the case.
- Keep up with technology through blogs like medium.com or dev.to.
2. Active Listening
When presenting, pause to listen and truly listen to what your audience is saying.
- One good trick is to rephrase the understanding of what the audience said to confirm your understanding.
- Make sure you are answering the actual questions or concerns. It’s a good idea to ask at the end of an answer if you actually answered their question.
3. Structure & Visuals
Having an appropriate structure for your presentation or knowledge sharing is important, or else you can appear scattered.
