Leadership Series: The Isolation of a Leader
The COVID effect or being a leader is a lonely endeavour?

Full disclosure that this article was started in the middle of the COVID pandemic before travelling and in-person had started. Things have improved, and we can now meet everyone in person, although I mostly still work 100% from home. I hope you enjoyed it.
It is an interesting article to write. During COVID-19, I started a new position as General Manager for a Service Consultancy Startup. It has been 24 months. We are doing well but have never seen anyone as we are spread across the vast Canadian country from the East Coast to the West Coast.
Notice that I wrote the first half of this article while in the middle of the pandemic and the first 6 months of my new job, and at those times, I felt alone. Do not get me wrong, we had many opportunities daily, even to see each other on camera and have an active Slack community. My article is my thought about the isolation of a leader while starting a new company during COVID.
In 2022, I moved to manage and scale our engineering teams. My role changed a little more. Oh well, it is a growing business with needs that change frequently.
